The Problem

One of our customers is a well-reputed company that sells branded goods, which include sportswear, casual wear, and footwear products. We conduct Inventory verification regularly and report to the customer loss prevention management team. This exercise aims to see if there is any shrinkage in inventory, cleanse the books, and ensure the franchisee absorbs the loss if it is a FOBO outlet or else absorb the loss suitably with recovery initiated by the stores' team.

The Solution

In one of the retail outlets of this customer, the Audit team from Matrix identified a shortage of 216 pieces of the products and a financial deficit of Rs. 1.90 Lakhs. As a result, the store manager of the shop offered hush money to reduce the shortage reported by our team.

However, our team leader skillfully denied the offer and alerted our back-office manager without drawing the store manager's attention. As a result, our back office manager sent another team lead from our headquarters to the site to assist our audit team immediately.

Another carton of products that had not been declared during the prior physical audit by scanning was eventually removed by the shop team. While all this was happening, the store manager attempted to influence our second team lead to understating the shortages.

Our team leaders dealt with the ongoing attempt to bribe them effectively, and the final shortage as above was reported to the customer promptly.
